The importance of fluoride for teeth
Dental and oral health is very important because teeth and gums that are damaged and not cared for will cause pain, chewing disorders and can interfere with other body health. One way to maintain healthy teeth is to use fluoride.
What is fluoride? Fluoride is a type of micro mineral found in teeth and bones. These minerals are also found in nature, such as in soil, air, plants, rocks, and even air. Fluoride is known as an ingredient used in dental health.
Fluoride can help prevent cavities in both children and adults by making the outer surface of the teeth (enamel) more resistant to attack by the acids that cause tooth decay.
How to use fluoride is also not difficult. Many toothpastes now contain fluoride. The addition of fluoride to toothpaste basically aims to restore the minerals in the teeth that are lost due to acids that come from bacteria and sugary foods or drinks.
Fluoride in toothpaste is basically safe, but if you use it excessively or swallow toothpaste that contains fluoride too often, it can cause inhibition of calcium absorption in the body, known as fluorosis.
