TOOTH GROWTH IN CHILDREN
Stages of Child Teeth Growth
Each child experiences a different period of tooth growth, some appear at an early age, some of their teeth appear later than other children. But even though it varies, in general the growth of children's teeth takes place in almost the same period. The following are the stages of tooth growth in children:
- Age 4 -6 Months
At this time, the baby's gums may swell and redness. This is due to the growth of the first tooth, usually starting with two incisors at the bottom.
- Age 8-10 Months
The upper incisors followed.
- Age 10-13 Months
Grow two teeth flanking the upper incisors.
- Age 13-14 Months
Two teeth next to the lower incisors grow.
- Age 14-16 Months
At this age, it is usually the first molars teeth on the top and bottom. If you notice the distance between incisors and molars, don't be surprised. Empty gums will be where the canines grow in the next phase.
- Age 16-23 Months
The upper canines grow, followed by the lower canines. In this phase, your child has been able to tear apart the food to be consumed.
- Age 23-33 Months
This phase is the last phase in the growth of children's milk teeth. Second or main molars grow in the upper and lower jaws.
- 2-3 Years Old
At this age, children generally already have 20 complete milk teeth, 10 teeth in the upper jaw and lower jaw each. This arrangement of milk teeth will last until the child reaches 6 or 7 years old.
4 Years Old
The growth of the child's jaw and facial bones will begin to appear at this age. This will cause space between milk teeth. It is this space that will give adult teeth the opportunity to grow.
- Age 6-7 Years Old
Toothless or dated teeth will be experienced by your child at this age. Dated milk teeth will be replaced by fixed teeth. After the child has fixed teeth, teach your child to be more disciplined in caring for his teeth so as to avoid tooth decay.
