What is Oral Care? 

Oral care is a process of keeping the oral cavity clean so as to avoid disease germs. Maintaining oral hygiene is one of the efforts to improve health.


Why do we have to take care of the mouth?

Oral care must be done because food residue is in the teeth so that it can cause the growth of germs that cause :

-> Cavities

-> Thrush

-> Bad breath

Poor oral care will cause disease, one of which is dental caries.


Consequences of not taking care of the mouth :

-> Halitosis 

Halitosis is a condition characterized by an unpleasant smell of mouth breath. This condition can also be accompanied by dry mouth, bad taste in the mouth, and white color on the tongue.

-> Dental Calculus


Dental calculus is a deposit of plaque or food residue containing microorganisms or bacteria that sticks to the teeth for a long time which hardens.

-> Periodontitis


Periodontitis is an infection of the gums that damages the teeth, soft tissue, and bone supporting the teeth. Periodontitis must be treated immediately because it can cause serious complications.

-> Dental Caries


Dental caries is a term used to describe the condition of cavities in the teeth. The most common cause is poor dental and oral hygiene, which causes the accumulation of food debris and bacteria.


Routine oral care is by brushing teeth and gargling.

Toothbrush :


1. Clean teeth and gums with a soft toothbrush 2-3 times daily for 2-3 minutes.

2. If the brush is too hard, soak it in hot water every 15-30 minutes to soften the bristles.

3. Dry the toothbrush when not in use.

4. Selection of toothpaste (flavor not too strong and use toothpaste containing fluoride).


Gargle :


1. Rinse your mouth 3-4 times every time you brush your teeth.

2. Avoid gargling with ingredients that contain alcohol.

3. Anti-bacterial mouthwash can be used 2-4 times a day to treat gum problems.
