ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
Root canal treatment is a procedure for removing the dental pulp, which is part of the tooth root which consists of blood vessels and dental nerves. The goal of this procedure is to treat an infected tooth without removing it. The nerves in the tooth cavity sense hot or cold temperatures in food.
Root canal treatment can also be performed on people with the following conditions:
1. Deep cavities (tooth decay) that are not properly cared for
2. Broken teeth or damage to the tooth crown (enamel).
3. Tooth injury
4. Pulp infection (pulpitis)
Signs and symptoms that may require root canal treatment are:
1. Tooth aches and pains that spread to the jaw, face or other teeth
2. Swollen gums and jaw
3. Lumps in the gums
4. Teeth are black
5. Toothache when chewing food
6. There is flesh growing in the tooth cavity (pulp polyp)
At the same time, the patient should avoid anything that could interfere with the rooting process. Some things that need to be done by the patient are:
1. Take antibiotics or anti-inflammatories according to the doctor's prescription
2. Eat a balanced and nutritious diet
3. Do not smoke
4. Keep your blood sugar normal if you have diabetes
5. Maintain normal blood pressure if you have hypertension
