Gingivitis prevention

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums without destroying the supporting tissues.Gingivitis changes the color of the gums from reddish to bluish red.

Prevention of gingivitis

Prevention of gingivitis can be done by maintaining oral hygiene. The following are some easy steps that you can practice every day.

1. Brush your teeth regularly
Brush your teeth at least twice a day using the proper brushing technique. Do a circular motion from top to bottom on each side for 20 seconds.

Also, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a small-tipped head to get to the deepest parts of the mouth.

Also choose a toothpaste that contains fluoride. The mineral content in this toothpaste is effective in strengthening and protecting your teeth from damage.

2. Using dental floss (flossing)
Cleaning your teeth using floss, aka flossing, helps remove food residue stuck between your teeth and below the gum line.

If you regularly brush your teeth and floss, your gums will stay healthy and avoid various dental and mouth problems.

3. Quit smoking
Smoking is the biggest risk factor for gingivitis and gum disease. Therefore, from now on you should try to quit smoking.

In addition to preventing gingivitis or inflammation of the gums, quitting smoking can also help improve your overall health.

4. Consume healthy and nutritious food
Getting the right nutrients from the foods you eat helps your immune system work more effectively against the bacteria that cause gingivitis.

Consume healthy foods for your teeth and mouth, for example vegetables and fruit that contain vitamins C and E. These two vitamins help repair damaged body tissues.

5. Avoid stress
Stress can also affect the health of your teeth and mouth. If stress hits, it will be more difficult for the immune system to fight the bacteria that cause infection.

Trying to think positively and adopt a healthy lifestyle is the most effective way to deal with the stress you experience.

6. Regularly check with the dentist
Periodic dental examinations can make it easier for doctors to monitor the health of your teeth and mouth. Doctors can immediately carry out treatment to find a problem.

You should regularly check with your dentist every 6-12 months. However, if you are more prone to gingivitis, your doctor may schedule more frequent checkups.

If you have further questions about this condition, consult your doctor to understand the best solution for you.
